Guide updated
Implemented from the official account Credits API, pricing and public console materials. Live-account verification is pending, including signed-in key creation, restrictions and balance reconciliation. Automated tests are not account verification.

- What is monitored
- API Credits · USD value
- Reads data from a successful GET https://api.kie.ai/api/v1/chat/credit response: account-shared Credits. Converts exactly at the published $0.005 per Credit (200 Credits = $1), retaining the original Credits. Not a per-model, per-key or Quota Monitor project wallet.
How to check Kie.ai Credits without sharing a key
- Sign in at kie.ai and confirm the account or team paying for API calls.
- Open Billing and read remaining Credits: 200 Credits = $1 of face value, not cumulative spending or a key's spend limit.
- Top up only if needed on the official platform and check after posting. You do not need to send anyone a key to check manually.
Connect Kie.ai to Quota Monitor
1. Sign in and confirm the paying account
Open the Billing link below and sign in to the account you use for paid Kie.ai API calls. If you have joined a team, confirm the current paying account first. Note the displayed Credits and time; do not compare with a model vendor's own site or a chat subscription.
Check: you can see Credits for the intended account. You do not need to buy anything, run a generation task or join a new team to connect monitoring. Stop here if you only want to check manually.
2. Create a dedicated monitoring key
In the same account, open API Keys and select Create New Key (some layouts say Create API key). Enter Quota Monitor in Name and select Create Key. Do not copy an existing production key. If creation is restricted, ask an existing administrator to help.
Check: creation succeeds and a Secret Key is shown. Label this new key for monitoring, but remember that a name does not restrict permissions: naming it Read Only does not make it read-only.
3. Review permissions and optional safeguards
A normal key can spend Credits on model calls. API Keys offers Allowed Models, Safe-Spend Limits and IP Whitelist controls, but the official material does not establish a compatible balance-only scope. If configuring limits, note that the UI defines 0 as unlimited, not no spending.
Check: you accept encrypted storage of this dedicated key. Do not broaden access to All Models or remove existing safeguards to troubleshoot. An IP whitelist needs the monitoring server's confirmed fixed outbound IP, not your computer or the website domain. This service does not promise a fixed outbound IP; if allowlisting is mandatory, use manual checking for now.
4. Save the complete secret safely
On the success screen, use Copy key / Copy for Secret Key and save it in a password manager before closing. The page warns that the secret may not be shown again. If lost, create a replacement rather than copying a masked value or its last four characters.
Check: only the complete key is copied, without Authorization: Bearer, quotes, newlines or surrounding spaces. Never put it in chat, screenshots, tickets, URLs or third-party online API testers.
5. Add Kie.ai inside your project
In Quota Monitor, open your project → add provider connection → add new connection. Choose Kie.ai (Credits · USD value), enter a recognizable connection name, paste the full value into the Kie.ai API Key password field and save.
Check: only one key field is needed, not an API URL, Account ID, upstream project or Key ID. Currency is fixed to USD and the secret is encrypted. With MCP, enter it only through the secure entry link, never in an agent conversation.
6. Sync and reconcile both units
Wait for the first sync or select Query latest balance. Confirm a new successful time, then compare with Billing Credits for the same paying account. For example, 4900 Credits should display $24.5 alongside 4900 Credits, not $4900.
Check: USD face value is credits / 200; do not deduct usage again. Alert thresholds and daily-burn settings use USD, not Credits. For initial verification, record only redacted amounts, account scope and query time, never the full response or secret.
7. Buy more Credits on Kie.ai if needed
When funds are low, select Open provider on the card to open Billing and reconfirm the account. If a purchase is needed, an authorized payer can choose an amount in the current top-up flow, review the charge and complete payment on Kie.ai. Connecting monitoring does not require a purchase.
Check: official Credits have increased before refreshing here. Bonuses, discounts, taxes and refunds follow current provider terms; USD face value is not a refund promise. Quota Monitor does not auto-top-up or change payment methods.
8. Replace and revoke the old monitoring key
To rotate, create a replacement in API Keys, add a new connection and verify its balance. Remove all project references to the old connection and delete it. Then use Revoke Key for the old monitoring key on Kie.ai and confirm, checking the name so you do not revoke a production key.
Check: the replacement sync succeeds and the old key is revoked. Removal or deletion here does not revoke it upstream. If Kie.ai prevents deleting the last key, retain a working replacement and follow the console guidance; do not delete unrelated credentials.
What Quota Monitor reads from Kie.ai
- Kie.ai is a multi-model platform. This connector reads only its account funds, not balances at the original model vendors or consumer subscriptions. Keys and projects sharing an account share these Credits: never sum duplicate balances.
- USD face value = credits / 200, not an estimate from model prices or historical usage. Spending is not deducted again. Credits are not withdrawable cash; purchase bonuses or discounts mean face value is not the amount paid. Cash/bonus splits, expiry and per-model quotas are not returned.
- Query time is not a settlement timestamp; zero-latency billing and model access are not guaranteed. Allowed Models, Safe-Spend Limits and IP Whitelist restrictions can still block requests. This version does not read those key limits.
- Balances update only with business code=200 and valid numeric data. Errors such as 401, 402, 429 or 455 inside HTTP 200 are not zero funds. A failure retains the previous successful snapshot and time. No generation, top-up or account changes are performed.
- The dashboard shows the latest successful snapshot. Manual refresh queries the provider again but cannot eliminate upstream billing delays. An old balance is not a new result after a failed query.
Kie.ai FAQ and troubleshooting
- How do I fix 401, 403 or an invalid key format?
- Copy the complete dedicated key again from API Keys. Check revocation, account access and IP Whitelist; remove Bearer and whitespace. Never submit a Cookie, disable required safeguards or broaden permissions to troubleshoot. Use official Billing if fixed outbound IP requirements cannot be met.
- Why do the displayed amounts differ by 200 times?
- data is Credits, not dollars: 4900 Credits = $24.5. Both units are retained, with alerts in USD. Bonus face value is not cash paid. Original model vendors' wallets and separate subscriptions are not included.
- Why do projects match, or why is a key capped with positive Credits?
- The endpoint reads shared account Credits, not per-key Safe-Spend Limits or per-model caps. Quota Monitor projects are organizational groups: do not add duplicates. Positive Credits do not override model access, key limits or other restrictions.
- Why does HTTP 200 fail, or what do 402, 429 and 455 mean?
- HTTP success is not business success. Only code=200 with valid data establishes a balance. 402 is not a substitute numeric zero; 429 is rate limiting and 455 is maintenance, so retry later. We do not switch to private endpoints or estimate funds; failures retain the prior successful amount and time.
- What if a top-up is missing or I lost the dedicated key?
- Confirm that payment posted to the same paying account, then refresh; recent billing may still be updating. Replace a lost secret and verify the new connection before revoking the old key instead of reusing production credentials. Share only redacted amounts, error codes and times if the issue persists.
