Guide updated
Implemented against the official balance API and pricing documentation; live-account verification is pending. Signed-in key creation, default-organization scope and balance reconciliation have not been tested. Automated regression is not live verification.
- Required credentials
- Stability API Key
- Monitoring currency
- USD · Credit face value
- What is monitored
- API Credits · USD value
- Reads credits from GET https://api.stability.ai/v1/user/balance. Without an Organization header, the API uses the default organization. This version supports only that scope, not a selected non-default organization. Converts exactly at 100 Credits = $1 and retains the original Credits; this is not a per-key or Quota Monitor project wallet.
How to check Stability AI Credits without sharing a key
- Sign in at platform.stability.ai and confirm the API account and organization.
- Open Billing / Credits and read the original Credits: 100 Credits = $1 of face value, not monthly spending.
- Check organizations separately. Purchase only if needed on the official platform; no secret needs to be sent to anyone to check manually.
Connect Stability AI to Quota Monitor
1. Sign in and locate your API Credits
Open Stability AI Platform, select Login and sign in to the account used for the official API. Follow the Credits link below to the Billing / Credits page. Note the account, organization and Credits before creating anything.
Check: these are the intended API Credits, not a local Stable Diffusion screen or another host's funds. This connector omits Organization and reads the default organization. If you need a non-default organization, use the official console for now; do not change a production default just for monitoring.
2. Create a separate API key
In the same account, open API Keys and select Create API Key. Create a new key instead of copying the one serving production. If there is no name field, label it Quota Monitor with its creation date in your password manager.
Check: a new key row appears. The official page provides copy and show/hide controls. If organization policy prevents creation, ask an existing administrator; do not substitute a login Cookie.
3. Understand the permission trade-off
This key uses the same authentication as other Stability APIs and may generate billable images or audio. The current documentation does not establish a compatible balance-only permission, so there is no verified read-only policy JSON to apply.
Check: you accept storing this dedicated key encrypted in Quota Monitor. If your policy permits only read-only credentials, stop and use manual checking. Our connector only makes the balance GET request: no generation, top-up or payment-setting changes.
4. Copy and store the complete key safely
Use the Copy to clipboard icon on the new key's row and save the value in your password manager. Use the show/hide control if needed. Copy only the key, without Authorization: Bearer, quotes, spaces or masked characters.
Check: it is the new dedicated API key, not a login token, key name or last four characters. Do not put the full secret in chat, screenshots, support tickets, URLs or an online API tester.
5. Add Stability AI inside your project
In Quota Monitor, open your project → add provider connection → add new connection. Choose Stability AI (Credits · USD value), enter a recognizable connection name and paste the complete key into the Stability API Key password field, then save.
Check: there is one key field. No custom API URL, Organization ID, provider project or Key ID is required. Currency is USD and the secret is encrypted. For MCP setup, use the secure entry link instead of sending your key to an agent.
6. Sync and compare the units
Wait for the first sync or select Query latest balance and check that the successful time changes. Compare with Credits for the same account's default organization: 2450 Credits should display $24.5 alongside 2450 Credits, not $2450.
Check: USD value = credits / 100. Do not subtract spending again; alert thresholds use USD, not Credits. For initial verification record only redacted amounts, organization scope and query time. Positive Credits do not guarantee a model request can run.
7. Buy Credits on the official platform if needed
Select Open provider on the card to return to Credits and confirm the account again. If funds are needed, an authorized payer can follow the current Buy Credits flow, select an amount, review the charge and pay on Stability.
Check: official Credits have posted before refreshing here. You do not need to pay or enable automatic top-up merely to connect monitoring. Current purchase pricing, taxes, refunds and payment restrictions are governed by Stability; USD face value is not a refund promise.
8. Rotate or revoke the dedicated key
Create a replacement in API Keys, add a replacement connection and verify its sync. Remove all project references to the old connection and delete it, then delete the old dedicated key on Stability. Double-check that you are not deleting a production key.
Check: the new connection reads the intended scope and the old dedicated key is revoked. Removing a project reference or deleting a Quota Monitor connection does not revoke the provider key. Plan a replacement window if connection slots are full.
What Quota Monitor reads from Stability AI
- Keys and projects using the same default organization may share Credits: never add duplicate balances. A default-organization change can change the API scope. Match organizations when reconciling; do not change your production default just to connect monitoring.
- Credits are usage units for the hosted Stability API, not withdrawable cash or a credit allowance. This connector does not read local Stable Diffusion / ComfyUI, another hosting provider or a separately billed consumer subscription.
- USD face value is credits / 100, not an estimate from model prices or historical usage. No spending is subtracted again. Cash/bonus splits, expiry and per-model quotas are not inferred.
- Last successful sync is the query time, not a settlement timestamp. Zero-latency billing and model availability are not guaranteed; permissions, model access and rate limits still apply. Failures retain the previous result, never replacing missing data with zero.
- The dashboard shows the latest successful snapshot. Manual refresh queries the provider again but cannot eliminate upstream billing delays. An old balance is not a new result after a failed query.
Stability AI FAQ and troubleshooting
- How do I fix 401, 403 or an invalid key format?
- Copy the complete dedicated key again from API Keys. Check revocation, the owning account and organization access; remove Bearer, quotes and line breaks. Never use a Cookie/login token or broaden administrator privileges to troubleshoot. Share only redacted error codes and times if it still fails.
- Why do the amounts differ by 100 times?
- The official credits field contains Credits, not dollars. 2450 Credits equals $24.5 and both are shown. Alert thresholds use USD. This is not estimated spending; do not add the dollar value to the Credit count.
- Why is this not my selected organization's balance?
- The official Organization header can target another organization, but this version omits it and reads the default. A console selection may not be the API default. Do not substitute a project ID or change production defaults; check non-default organizations on Stability for now.
- Why do projects match, or what if I use ComfyUI / another host?
- Quota Monitor projects organize work without creating Stability wallets; do not sum shared default-organization Credits. Local models, Stable Diffusion hosted by another provider, and separate subscriptions must be checked with whoever actually bills you.
- What if a purchase is missing, I get 429, or balance is absent?
- Confirm the same account's default organization and official posting. Retry later after rate limiting. Billing updates may lag; we do not promise real-time settlement. Missing/invalid numbers or failed reads retain the previous successful balance and time, never a fabricated zero. Do not send keys or raw responses in feedback.
